Brooks Cantrell

Brooks Cantrell was born in 1971 in Murfreesboro, TN and raised in Memphis TN. From 1994 - 2002, Brooks was in the home theater sales and installation business. In 2002, he moved to Pittsburgh, PA. Brooks Cantrell, the founder of 1 Shot Studios, was inspired to attend Pittsburgh Filmmakers after filming a music video for a friend’s band. He attended Pittsburgh Filmmakers for 2 years in the Digital Video program, he finished in April 2008.


Some of his favorite movies include the classics: Citizen Kane, Touch of Evil (Orsen Wells), Frenzy, The Birds, In Cold Blood (Richard Brooks), Psycho (Hitchcock). He also enjoys Jaws, Neighbors (John Belushi) the original: Halloween, Friday the 13th, Nightmare on Elm Street, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, and The Hills Have Eyes. He is the driving force behind 1 Shot Studios.


Cantrell sponsored the 5th Annual Eerie Horror Film Festival and Expo in October of 2008. Brooks wanted to show his appreciation for other independent filmmakers all around the world by being a sponsor for the event
